Srinagar, March 07: Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Jammu and Kashmir to be “breathing freely” following the revocation of Article 370, which he described as the biggest obstacle to the region’s development.
Addressing a large rally at Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium, PM Modi emphasized that the current state of Jammu and Kashmir represents the vision for which Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee sacrificed his life.
According to reports, PM Modi highlighted the rapid pace of development in the region since the abrogation of Article 370, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir is now scaling new heights.
He attributed this progress directly to the government’s decision to scrap the contentious article.
“I have succeeded in winning the hearts of the people of Kashmir, and I am committed to winning more,” stated PM Modi, expressing his determination to continue efforts to earn the trust and support of the region’s inhabitants. He labeled this endeavor “Modi Ki Guarantee,” underscoring his commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people.
PM Modi criticized the Congress for misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding Article 370, accusing previous rulers and dynastic politics of restricting the region’s potential.
He asserted that under the current administration, there are equal rights and opportunities for all, enabling the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to shape their own futures.
Describing Jammu and Kashmir as the crown of the country, PM Modi expressed pride in the decision to revoke its special status in 2019. His visit marked the first since the historic move, which saw the former state divided into two Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Security measures were significantly heightened for PM Modi’s visit, with thousands of security personnel deployed and checkpoints established across Srinagar.
During his visit, PM Modi remotely inaugurated several developmental projects across Jammu and Kashmir, coinciding with preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a gesture of goodwill, PM Modi extended Ramadan greetings to the people of Kashmir, ahead of the start of the holy month. “Today, from Kashmir, I extend my greetings to the country for the coming Ramadan,” he conveyed, fostering a sense of inclusivity and unity during his address.
