Directs Livestock Owners to Maintain Cleanliness, Ensure Hygienic Disposal Within Municipal Limits
ANANTNAG, June 19: Municipal Council Anantnag has issued a public notice directing residents, particularly livestock owners, to ensure the timely removal and proper disposal of cow dung within municipal limits, warning that violations will attract action under relevant municipal laws and Solid Waste Management Rules.
According to the notice issued by the Chief Executive Officer of Municipal Council Anantnag, the dumping or accumulation of cow dung on roadsides, drains, footpaths, public places and other municipal areas has been strictly prohibited.
The council stated that the unchecked accumulation of cow dung in public spaces creates unhygienic conditions, foul smell, obstruction to pedestrian movement and poses serious health and environmental hazards.
The notice directs all livestock owners and residents to collect and store cow dung within their own premises in a hygienic manner and ensure that it is not dumped on roads, drains, open spaces, water bodies or any public property. Citizens have also been advised to arrange proper utilization, composting or disposal of cow dung at designated locations and maintain cleanliness in and around livestock shelters.
Municipal Council Anantnag emphasized that any individual found violating these instructions shall be liable for action under applicable municipal regulations, including the imposition of penalties and fines.
Appealing for public cooperation, the council urged citizens to contribute towards maintaining sanitation, cleanliness and a healthy environment across the municipal limits of Anantnag.
The public notice was issued in the larger public interest as part of the council’s efforts to strengthen sanitation measures and improve civic hygiene in the town. (KNC)
