Duplicity of Character’: LG Manoj Sinha Castigates CM Omar Abdullah, Ministers for Skipping UT Day Celebration

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday criticized the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other cabinet ministers for exhibiting a “duplicity of character” by abstaining from Union Territory Foundation Day celebrations.

Speaking on UT Foundation Day celebration event at SKICC, Sinha according to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com pointed out the contradiction in their (CM and cabinet ministers) actions, stating, “The Home Minister had said in the Parliament that delimitation would happen first, then elections, and statehood at an appropriate time. Those who took an oath on the Constitution while J&K is a UT stayed away today. This is duplicity of character.”

Sinha said that J&K’s current status as a Union Territory is the reality, saying, “The day J&K is made a state, we will also celebrate that.”

Statehood for J&K will be restored at the right time, as Prime Minister Narinder Modi assured during his last visit on Yoga Day visit here. We may not know the exact timeline, but progress is definitely on the way, he added.(KDC)
