CM Omar seeks stronger institutional support for addressing J&K’s fiscal challenges at pre-budget meet

New Delhi, Jan 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also Finance Minister of J&K, on Saturday participated in the pre-Budget consultations meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the CM stressed on the need for stronger institutional support to address J&K’s fiscal challenges.

“Chief Minister today participated in the pre-Budget consultations in New Delhi, chaired by the Union Finance Minister, and shared key perspectives and concerns of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir for Union Budget 2026–27. He emphasized the need for stronger institutional support to address J&K’s fiscal challenges,” reads a post on X handle of Chief Minister’s Office.

The Union Budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 will be presented on February 1, 2026, which falls on a Sunday. This marks the first time in recent years that the Union Budget is presented on a Sunday.

The budget of Jammu and Kashmir is likely to be presented by the Chief Minister in the first week of February, during the session beginning on the 2nd of the month—(KNO)
