From Darkness to Light: The Journey of the J&K Waqf Board

Er.REHMAT ULLAH BHAT

The journey continues, but one truth is clear The light has been lit, and it will not fade.

There was a time when the name of the Waqf Board was associated with neglect, disorder, and fading public trust. Records were scattered, properties were encroached upon, and the institution had lost its direction. Hope was dim, and confidence was shaken.
Then came a turning point — the visionary leadership of Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson, which marked the beginning of a new dawn.
This was not merely a change in leadership; it was a transformation in mindset. Dr. Andrabi envisioned the Waqf Board not as a dormant institution, but as a living trust meant to serve the people with integrity and purpose. Transparency, accountability, and reform became the pillars of her mission. Where there was silence, decisive action emerged. Where there was darkness, light began to shine.
Standing firmly alongside this reformative journey was the Executive Magistrate, whose administrative strength, legal authority, and on-ground execution gave real shape to the vision. Strong action against encroachments, systematic documentation, and continuous field monitoring ensured that reforms were not confined to files but reflected clearly on the ground.
From Darkness to Light is not just a phrase — it defines a reality:
From obscurity to transparency
From mismanagement to accountability
From despair to renewed public trust
From inaction to effective governance
Today, the Waqf Board stands revitalized — as a symbol of hope, responsibility, and progress. The journey continues, but one truth is clear The light has been lit, and it will not fade.
