New Delhi, July 28: The Central Government has informed Parliament that ₹40.46 crore has been sanctioned for the development of the revered Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar under the National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) scheme.
Responding to a query in Parliament, the Ministry of Tourism stated that out of the total sanctioned amount, ₹34.30 crore has already been utilised, while the remaining funds are being used for the completion of the project.
The development initiative aims to enhance infrastructure and visitor amenities at the historic shrine, which is one of the most significant religious sites in Jammu and Kashmir. The project includes the upgradation of facilities for pilgrims and tourists, improved access, and the preservation of the shrine’s heritage value.
The Centre reiterated its commitment to promoting religious tourism and strengthening pilgrimage infrastructure across the country through the PRASHAD scheme, with the Hazratbal Shrine project being one of the key initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
