Srinagar, July 10: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed concern over the growing menace of fake journalists and the misuse of social media, stating that the government will have to address the issue.
Speaking in an Interview, the Chief Minister said that while social media has become a powerful platform for communication and the dissemination of information, its misuse by individuals posing as journalists has emerged as a serious concern.
“We will have to address this issue,” Abdullah said, indicating that the government is examining the matter and may consider appropriate measures to curb misinformation and ensure accountability.
His remarks come amid increasing concerns over the spread of fake news, unverified reports, and the rise of individuals falsely claiming to represent media organizations on digital platforms.
The Chief Minister, however, emphasized the importance of protecting genuine journalism while tackling the misuse of social media and fake identities.
