Opposes ‘One Nation, One Election’
Speaking to reporters, he highlighted the need for consistency in raising concerns about EVMs.
“I have been saying the same thing continuously—if someone has a complaint regarding EVMs, it should persist throughout the year, not just when you lose an election,” Abdullah remarked.
He argued that such complaints should also be voiced after victories to demonstrate impartiality.
“If not EVMs, should we go back to ballot papers? Have we forgotten the irregularities associated with ballot papers, like vote stuffing? I certainly haven’t,” he added, recalling past election malpractice during the ballot paper era.
Addressing the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, Abdullah reaffirmed his party’s consistent opposition to the idea. “As far as I know, when it was introduced, we opposed it. We will continue to oppose it in the future,” he stated firmly, underscoring concerns about its potential implications on regional autonomy and the federal structure.
