Writes Public Disillusionment Deepens Due to Such Irresponsible Statements
Srinagar, February 25: The Mirwaiz Manzil office has strongly condemned recent remarks made by National Conference leader Omar Abdullah regarding the security provided to Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Umar Farooq.
In a statement, Mirwaiz Manzil called Omar Abdullah’s comments “nonsensical” and “highly regrettable,” asserting that as a leader, he is expected to speak with responsibility and understanding of the circumstances. The statement criticized his remarks as being in poor taste and reflective of personal insecurities.
The reaction follows Omar Abdullah’s response to a question about whether conditions in Jammu and Kashmir had improved since the abrogation of Article 370. While stating that only 2-3% had changed, he remarked that no one could have imagined Mirwaiz Umar Farooq receiving CRPF security from the Central Government, saying, “I couldn’t have ever thought of it, but situations have changed.”
Mirwaiz Manzil emphasized that such statements only deepen public disillusionment, particularly among the already distressed and repressed people of Kashmir.
