Arrested Doctors’ Case: Explosive Material, AK-47 Recovered in Faridabad, Say J&K Police

New Delhi, Nov 10: Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with Haryana Police, recovered a huge quantity of explosive material and an AK-47 rifle with ammunition from Faridabad, Haryana, just outside the national capital.

The recovery came following revelations made during the interrogation of Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, a Kashmiri doctor earlier arrested from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly putting up Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) propaganda posters in Srinagar.

In the operation, the J&K Police detained two doctors suspected of having links with banned terrorist networks. One of them, Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Majeed Rather from Qazigund, Anantnag, had been working as a Senior Resident at Government Medical College, Anantnag, until October 24, 2024. The second doctor, Dr. Muzamil, is also alleged to have connections with the same terror network and was arrested from Uttar Pradesh.

According to sources, the explosives and arms is linked to investigations involving arrested doctors.

Earlier, J&K Police had also seized an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from Dr. Rather’s locker at GMC Anantnag.

Police have registered an FIR under Section 7/25 of the Arms Act and multiple sections (13, 28, 38, 39) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Officials said the arrests and recoveries reveal a deep-rooted terror nexus attempting to infiltrate professional institutions. Investigations are underway to determine the source and intended use of the explosive material, as well as the extent of the doctors’ involvement. (KDC)
