Ramban, Sep 16: A government school teacher in Ramban district has been placed under immediate suspension following allegations of harassment of a female student, officials said.
The action was taken against Raiz Ahmed, posted at Government High School Harroge in Zone Gool, following a report submitted by an inquiry committee constituted on September 14, officials said.
The inquiry was initiated after a girl student lodged a complaint alleging harassment by the teacher at the school.
According to an order issued by the Chief Education Officer, Ramban, Ahmed was placed under suspension under Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1956.
During the suspension period, Ahmed has been attached to Government Primary School Bhatta in Zone Khari, according to the order.
The department has indicated that further administrative action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the inquiry.
The allegations against the teacher have not been established through a final disciplinary or judicial finding, and the inquiry process is continuing. [KNT]
