KU law faculty member authors debut book on India’s labour reforms

Srinagar, May 05: Dr. Nayeem Ahmad Bhat, Assistant Professor at the University of Kashmir’s School of Law, has published his debut academic book titled “Codifying Labour Welfare: An Analysis of India’s New Labour Regime.”

Brought out by international imprint Crestwood Publishers, the book is the culmination of several years of rigorous research into India’s evolving industrial relations and social security framework.

The volume offers a comprehensive analysis of the country’s transition toward a codified labour regime, examining the interplay between legal reforms, policy shifts, and labour welfare outcomes. It also brings together contributions from leading legal scholars and experts across India, presenting diverse perspectives on the implications of the new labour codes.

An alumnus of the University of Kashmir, Dr. Nayeem completed his LL.B., LL.M., and Ph.D. at the institution. He has qualified the All India Bar Examination as well as the UGC NET/JRF.

Prior to joining the University of Kashmir faculty, he served in academic roles at the Central University of Kashmir, Vitasta College of Law and Humanities, and SGT University.

Beyond teaching, Dr. Nayeem has contributed to academic research as an investigator on a major UGC-funded project on Panchayati Raj Institutions. A prolific scholar, he has authored over 25 research papers published in national and international journals and has presented his work at more than 20 academic conferences and seminars.

His debut book consolidates years of scholarly engagement and is expected to serve as an important reference for students, legal practitioners, and policymakers navigating India’s contemporary labour law reforms. The book will be available on Amazon and other outlets soon. (KDC)
