Shopian, May 1: The body of a four-year-old boy, who had gone missing after slipping into the Rambiara stream in Shopian, was recovered on Friday morning after five days of extensive search efforts.
Reports reaching news agency JKNS the child, a resident of Pulwama, had accidentally fallen into the fast-flowing stream near Dubjan area earlier this week, prompting a massive multi-agency rescue operation.
After days of continuous search amid challenging conditions, the body was retrieved near the Gur Chamb area of Shopian, officials said.
Rescue teams comprising Jammu and Kashmir Police, SDRF, NDRF, and local volunteers had been carrying out round-the-clock operations despite strong currents and fluctuating water levels.
The body has been taken for medico-legal formalities, while further proceedings are underway. (JKNS)
