Dr. Farooq urges people to embrace Prophet’s (SAW) Message of forgiveness on Youm-e-Fatah-e-Makkah

Srinagar, 10 Mar: On the eve of Youm-e-Fatah-e-Makkah, The President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah urged people to reflect on the timeless lesson of compassion, mercy and forgiveness demonstrated by the Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), on the historic day of the Conquest of Makkah.

Dr. Farooq said that the day marks a defining moment in Islamic history when the Prophet (PBUH), after years of persecution, exile and hardship, entered the holy city of Mecca with dignity and humility during the holy month of Ramadan in 630 CE. Despite having the power to take revenge against those who had opposed and persecuted him and his followers, the Prophet (SAW) chose the path of mercy and declared a general amnesty.

Dr. Farooq said the message of Youm-e-Fatah-e-Makkah remains deeply relevant in today’s world. “The Prophet (SAW) of Islam showed that true strength lies in forgiveness and moral courage. Even towards his harshest opponents, he chose mercy over revenge and reconciliation over division,” he said.

He urged people to draw inspiration from this historic day and work towards building a society based on compassion, justice, tolerance and peaceful coexistence. He also prayed for peace, unity and harmony among people and expressed hope that the values exemplified on this day would continue to guide humanity towards understanding and brotherhood.
