Bandipora: Former minister Naeem Akhtar felicitated academic toppers at SMS Islamia Model Secondary School in Bandipora district and stressed the need for strengthening quality education in the region.
He was addressing a farewell function organised for recently passed-out Class 10 students at the school in Garoora area of north Kashmir.
Congratulating the students, Akhtar said education remains central to the social and economic development of society and urged students to continue pursuing excellence in higher studies.
He said Bandipora has significant academic potential which needs sustained institutional support.
Akhtar appreciated the school management for providing education to students from economically weaker sections and said such institutions play an important role in expanding access to learning opportunities.
He said schools must focus not only on academic performance but also on building confidence and responsibility among students.
School authorities said the institution has recorded consistent academic performance in recent years and draws students from Ajas, Bandipora town and adjoining areas. They said several students from the school have figured among topp performers in the district.
The management reiterated its commitment to continue providing education without profit motive and ensuring equal opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds.
Certificates and mementos were distributed among the toppers during the function.
