Srinagar, Dec 17: Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani on Wednesday expressed optimism about an early onset of snowfall, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir is fully prepared to offer top-notch adventure tourism facilities on par with global standards.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 17th Annual Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) at SKICC, as per news agency JKNS Wani said, that although snowfall has not yet occurred, there is strong hope that it will begin soon. “We are among the best destinations for trekking, skiing and other adventure activities. Cycling events and annual marathons are also being organised here, and we actively participate in them,” he said.
Wani said Jammu and Kashmir is proud to be emerging as the adventure capital of the country. “Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself is a keen adventure lover, which motivates all of us to promote such activities. His passion encourages wider participation and growth of adventure tourism in the region,” he added.
Assuring visitors and stakeholders, Wani said the government is committed to providing the best possible adventure tourism infrastructure. “Like Europe, we are planning to have modern snow machines to support skiing and winter sports,” he said.
He also acknowledged the role of adventure tourism promoter and president ATOAI Ajeet Bajaj, describing him as a close and supportive friend of Jammu and Kashmir. “Whenever we faced difficulties, Ajeet Bajaj stood by us and helped in promoting tourism in J&K. I hope such cooperation continues in the future,” Wani said.
Expressing hope, he concluded, “If God is kind, we will witness snowfall very soon, and visitors will get to enjoy winter adventure activities in the Valley.” (JKNS)
