Prof Romshoo named among world’s top scientists

Srinagar: Prof Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, has been named among the world’s top 2 percent scientists by Stanford University for the sixth consecutive year.

In addition to Prof. Romshoo, five other IUST faculty members have featured in the 2025 edition of the global ranking, which assesses researchers based on standardized citation indicators.

The faculty members include, Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction, Dr. Basharat Nabi Dar, Department of Food Technology, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Rather, Department of Chemistry, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Macha, Watson and Crick Centre for Molecular Medicine and Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Khanday, Department of Physics
An internationally recognized expert in hydrology, glaciology, and climate sciences, Prof. Romshoo is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, and the Indian Society of Geomatics.
IUST in a statement said that the recognition shows the university’s growing research footprint and commitment to academic excellence.
Congratulating the faculty, Prof. Romshoo said the university’s focus on strengthening its research ecosystem is yielding results.
He also emphasized the role of collaborations with IITs and other leading institutions in expanding research horizons and nurturing academic talent.
