Jhelum Likely to Swell as Moderate to Heavy Rain Forecast in J&K

Srinagar, Sep 02: Independent weather forecaster Kashmir Weather has predicted a fresh spell of moderate to heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir over the next 60 hours, warning that the Jhelum is likely to swell.

According to the forecast, the Jammu region may receive heavy to very heavy showers, while south Kashmir districts—Kulgam, Shopian, and Anantnag, are also expected to witness strong rainfall. The downpour over these catchment areas may push the Jhelum close to the flood alarm mark.

Kashmir Weather has also cautioned about the risk of flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides, with mountain passes vulnerable to shooting stones and traffic disruption.
