Subject: Request for Consideration of Teacher Attendance Directives
Dear Sir
I am writing to share my personal opinion on the recent directives regarding teacher attendance during vacations. I am neither a school owner nor a government employee, and I request that you consider my views accordingly.
As per your orders, private school teachers cannot be forced to attend school during summer vacations, which I believe is also applicable to winter vacations. However, I’ve noticed that government teachers are being required to attend orientation programs during winter vacations. I’m not opposed to these programs, as ongoing education and updates are essential for all teachers. In fact, I believe that continuous learning and professional development are crucial for educators to stay updated with the latest teaching methodologies and technologies.
I do have a question, though. If private school teachers are not required to attend school during vacations, then why are government teachers being mandated to attend orientation programs? I understand that some schools might request teachers to attend school to support students who need extra help, which could be beneficial for the students. This initiative could be seen as a proactive approach to addressing learning gaps and ensuring that students receive the support they need to excel.
Moreover, most schools are equipped with basic amenities like fans and air conditioning units, which would ensure a comfortable working environment for teachers during summer vacations. This would enable them to focus on planning and preparation without any discomfort.
I would like to highlight that every school, whether private or government, has the same goal: to provide quality education to its students. The motivation behind requiring teachers to attend school during vacations might be to ensure that students receive extra support and guidance.
I believe that your attention to this matter could help promote a positive work culture and better education. By considering the perspectives of all stakeholders, including teachers, schools, and the education department, we can work together to create a more supportive and effective learning environment.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely.
