Gulmarg, May 24: In a strong display of resilience and confidence, the popular tourist resort of Gulmarg has witnessed a massive surge in visitors this week, with thousands queuing up for the famous Gulmarg Gondola, just a month after the tragic attack in Pahalgam.
The Gondola — one of Asia’s highest cable cars — has once again become a major attraction, with eager visitors lining up to witness the snow-covered peaks and breathtaking scenery.
Local tourism operators have welcomed the revival, calling it a much-needed boost for the region’s economy. “Tourism is the lifeline for many families here. The return of visitors is a ray of hope,” said a local tour operator.
Managing Director, Cable Car Gulmarg Qamar Sajad, told KNS that Kashmir continues to offer pure and heartfelt tourism, free from commercial showmanship. “With sincere hospitality and unmatched natural beauty, it remains a timeless, welcoming destination for travelers worldwide,” he said, adding that tourist footfall in Gulmarg has increased from a few hundred to thousands in the last 10 days.
