Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Hotels and Restaurants Association (JKHARA) has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, calling it a much-needed step towards restoring peace in the region and reviving the tourism sector in the Valley.
In a statement issued today, President JKHARA, Babar Chowdhary, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the national leadership for facilitating the ceasefire and creating a hopeful atmosphere for the return of tourists to Kashmir.Babar Chowdhary said, “We would like to thank and extend our appreciation to our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the entire country’s leadership for the ceasefire. With this decision, there is hope that the tourism industry in Kashmir will begin to revive after facing a difficult period. The people of Kashmir, particularly those dependent on tourism, are optimistic that peace will return and economic activity will flourish once again.
He also acknowledged the swift action of the local administration in restoring air connectivity, which plays a crucial role in supporting tourism. “We are thankful to the J&K administration under the dynamic leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for ensuring that Srinagar International Airport is made operational at the earliest. Their efforts have brought much-needed relief and reassurance to the travel and hospitality sectors,” he said.JKHARA reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside the government and other stakeholders to promote Kashmir as a peaceful and welcoming destination. The association believes that a sustained peace process and improved infrastructure will open new opportunities for growth and employment in the region.
