Poonch May 14: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday visited the conflict-hit areas of Poonch and Rajouri, where she strongly called for declaring all innocent civilians killed in recent violence as martyrs.
Mufti emphasized that peace should not be treated as a one-time gesture but as a sustained and ongoing process. She underlined that India’s ceasefire efforts must be rooted in national unity and free from political exploitation.
“Political solutions, not just military responses, are the key to long-term peace in the region,” she stated, urging the Centre to pursue meaningful dialogue and reconciliation. Highlighting India’s regional role, she also called for strengthening ties with SAARC nations to ensure broader stability.
“Jammu and Kashmir must be treated with compassion and insaanyat,” she asserted, reinforcing her long-standing stance on humane governance.
