Srinagar: In a significant development, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah welcomed the resumption of ceasefire between India and Pakistan, stating that the move—though much needed—came a few days too late to prevent the tragic loss of precious lives across border areas.
“Had this decision been taken just two or three days earlier, we could have saved many innocent lives,” the Chief Minister told KNS, underlining the heavy toll the recent cross-border shelling has taken in districts like Poonch, Rajouri, and Tangdar.
He noted the scale of devastation in these areas, stressing that the government’s immediate focus now shifts to relief and rehabilitation of the affected population.
Welcoming the diplomatic breakthrough, Abdullah added, “This ceasefire will not only save lives but also ensure the resumption of halted flights and enable our Haj pilgrims to travel without disruption.”
