Srinagar, April 24: The United Sikh Students Federation (USSF) in Punjab has appealed for calm and solidarity, particularly towards Kashmiri students studying in the state.
The forum issued a statement as per Kashmir Bulletin emphasizing the need to separate acts of violence from broader communities. It said the actions of individuals or groups should not define or target an entire population.
“These are difficult times. Our condolences are with the families of the victims. But this is also a time to stand against hate and collective blame,” the statement said.
The USSF said that many Kashmiri students are studying in colleges across Punjab. “They are here to study and build their future. They are part of our classrooms and colleges and should be treated with respect and fairness,” the statement said.
The USSF assured that it will work with institutions and authorities to ensure all students feel secure and supported, regardless of their region or background.
The forum also released a list of helpline numbers for students in need of assistance or support: 6284513899, 9855776846, 8791523577 and 7888781935.
The USSF urged students and the public to remain united and maintain a peaceful environment. (KB)
