Srinagar, Mar 14 (KINS): In a significant breakthrough, Ganderbal Police have solved a theft case, apprehending five individuals and recovering stolen gold worth lakhs of rupees.
On September 12, 2024, Police Station Lar received a written complaint from Abdul Rehman Shah, a resident of Check Yangoora, stating that during the intervening night of September 11-12, unknown individuals broke into his home and stole gold and cash.
Acting swiftly, police registered an FIR (No. 42/2024) and launched an investigation.
Through meticulous efforts, officers identified and interrogated several suspects, leading to the arrest of Imtiyaz Ahmad Gooru (from Authkhroo Rabitar, currently residing in Parimpora), Hilal Ahmad Dar (Gund Roshan Rabitar), Adil Ahmad Sofi (Gund Roshan Rabitar), Javid Ahmad Mir (Guzhama Ganderbal), and Lateef Ahmad Dar (Wangipora Sumbal). During questioning, the accused confessed to the crime and admitted involvement in multiple thefts across different police jurisdictions in the valley.
Based on their disclosures, police recovered stolen gold items valued at ₹5,50,588, including three gold pounds, eight gold rings, two pairs of earrings, one pair of jhumkas and a gold chain. Additionally, an Alto car (JK01J-7340), used in the commission of the crime, was seized.
