J&K Govt Appoints Special Police Officers for Combating Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation

Jammu, Feb 05: The Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed all SHOs, SDPOs, and DySP Headquarters as Special Police Officers within their respective jurisdictions for enforcing the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, to combat human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

In a notification issued by home department J&K, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, In exercise of the powers conferred under sub section (1) of section 13 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 and in supersession of all the previous notifications issued on the subject, it reads.

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir hereby appoint all SHOs, not below the rank of Inspector and SDPOs/DySP Headquarters of J&K Police as Special Police Officers within their respective Jurisdictions for the purposes of the said Act, it reads. (JKNS)
