We are fighting for special status, statehood restoration: Deputy CM

Srinagar, Jan 03: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary said on Friday that ‘they are fighting for the special status and statehood restoration’.

Speaking to reporters Choudhary stated, “We are fighting for the restoration of special status and statehood. The National Conference (NC) government remains committed to the development of Jammu and Kashmir, and we seek the support of the public in this journey.”

Responding to criticism from opposition parties, he said, “The NC is dedicated to serving the people, and criticism from others will not deter us. When they were in power, they made empty promises. The people have placed their trust in us, and we will continue to work for their welfare.”

During a visit to the mechanical department’s control room, Surinder Choudhary reviewed snow clearance operations following heavy snowfall in the region. He praised the department’s efforts and credited Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s leadership for ensuring smooth operations.

“I’m impressed with the progress. The Chief Minister has chaired numerous meetings to ensure effective snow clearance, which has prevented hardships for the people,” Choudhary said.

He highlighted the success of snow clearance in areas like Pahalgam, where roads remained accessible despite challenging winter conditions. “The biggest credit goes to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his leadership and vision, which made these operations efficient and timely,” he added as per KINS.

Choudhary also lauded the introduction of advanced machinery, including the innovative spider accelerator, which he described as a breakthrough in snow removal technology. “The new machinery is incredibly effective. The spider accelerator, for example, performs like no other. It’s a leap forward for our operations,” he remarked.

Acknowledging the difficulties posed by severe winters, he said, “It’s unrealistic to expect roads to be entirely snow-free at all times, but the progress we’ve achieved is remarkable. This is a testament to the dedication of our government.”

The Deputy CM assured citizens that the government remains focused on addressing their needs and resolving issues. “The trust of the people drives us to continue working for their welfare. Challenges exist, but we are determined to overcome them,” he said.

Choudhary concluded by reiterating the NC government’s commitment to its political mandate under the leadership of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. “We are here because the people have voted for us, and we will answer to them through our actions and policies,” he said.(KINS)
