Srinagar, Dec 14: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Pulwama Waheed ur Rehman Parra on Saturday claimed that the party has faced harsher treatment from authorities since 2019 compared to Hurriyat leaders and Jamaat-e-Islami members.
Addressing party workers and leaders, Parra said that despite the pressure, the PDP has consistently raised its voice for the people. “For the last six years, our party was treated worse than Hurriyat and Jamaat leaders. There was tremendous pressure on us, and attempts were made to suppress our voices. But we did not remain silent and we continued to speak for the people,” he said, according to news agency KINS.
Parra also accused the government of facilitating the National Conference (NC) during elections while targeting PDP leaders and workers. “Our leaders faced crackdowns and harassment, but NC chose to remain silent. They don’t address the issues people are grappling with. Instead, they align with the government’s narrative of normalcy,” he alleged.
He claimed that the PDP remains committed to representing the aspirations and grievances of the people despite the ongoing challenges. (KINS)
