Srinagar, Dec 14: Minister for Health and Medical Education and Education, Sakina Itoo, Saturday said that the government is working on framing a standardized rate list for private laboratories to prevent overcharging for medical tests.
Speaking to reporters in Budgam, the Minister said, “We have received grievances about private labs charging exorbitant rates for various tests. I have directed the Secretary of Health and Medical Education Department to examine and regulate the rates. A rate list similar to that of government hospitals will be prepared and made public to ensure patients are not fleeced.”
In addition, Itoo, according to news agency KINS, addressed concerns about schools charging excessive fees.
She urged parents to file formal complaints if schools are found overcharging, assuring action would be taken. “We need proper complaints to act against schools that exploit students with high fees,” she said. (KINS)
