Following the attacks, the spokesperson for the Israeli military said that Iran had targeted their country with cruise and ballistic missiles, with dozens of missiles and drones being intercepted inside and outside Israel’s borders.

After these attacks, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that it was their legitimate right and that these counterattacks defended their country’s national interests and territorial integrity.

“Iran once again emphasizes its commitment to the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter and international rights, but insists on defending its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national interests against any kind of illegal aggression,” reads the statement.

Meanwhile, the White House, quoting President Joe Biden, condemned these attacks and stated that they would remain in close contact with Israeli leaders.

“Tomorrow, I will convene my fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s brazen attack. My team will engage with their counterparts across the region. And we will stay in close touch with Israel’s leaders. And while we have not seen attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect our people,” reads the White House statement.

After the attacks, Joe Biden convened a meeting of the National Security Council in the White House and reiterated his strong support for Israel.

CNN, quoting some American sources, reported that America would not participate in the counterattacks against Iran.

Chinese military in a statement said that Beijing is concerned about the escalation of conflict in the Middle East following Iran’s attacks on Israel.

The statement read: “China calls on both sides to remain calm and prevent the escalation of conflict. China urges the international community and influential countries to play a constructive role in ensuring peace and stability in the region,”

Additionally, Germany and France have also condemned Iran’s attacks on Israel while India has expressed concern about escalation of hostilities in the region.

“With this irresponsible and unjustifiable attack, Iran is risking a regional conflagration. Germany stands closely by Israel’s side. We will now discuss further reactions closely with our G7 partners and allies.” Government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit was quoted by Reuters as saying.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations also condemned the attacks and mentioned the risk of escalating conflicts in the region.

Iran’s attacks were in response to an Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy’s consular section in Damascus, Syria, which occurred on April 1 and resulted in the deaths of two Iranian commanders and five others. (Tolo News)
