Man who stabbed his uncle to death in Srinagar arrested: Police

Srinagar, Mar 24: A man has been arrested for stabbing his uncle to death during a fight in Hafta Yarbal locality of Srinagar’s Safakadal on Sunday morning even as further probe is going on, police said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an altercation broke out between a butcher namely Irfan Ahmad Ganie and his uncle Nisar Ahmad Ganie, and Irfan’s another uncle Fayaz Ahmad Ganie – the victim – tried to intervene but was stabbed by Irfan.

He said that soon after the incident the victim was rushed to SMHS hospital, however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The official said that acting swiftly, the police arrested the accused namely Irfan Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Shafi Ganie resident within hours after the incident.

He said that a case FIR No. 29/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Safakadal.

“The weapon of offence has been seized. Forensic analysis and medico-legal procedures are currently underway and further investigation is going on,” the official said—(KNO)
