Woman, her one-month-old granddaughter slipped to death in Kupwara

Kupwara, Feb 14: A 50-year-old woman and her granddaughter died after slipping into a deep gorge in Mundain village of Keran in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday late afternoon.

Reports reaching Asian News Hub said that a woman identified as 52-year-old Rashida Begum, wife of Ghulam Nabi Joo, along with her one-month-old maternal granddaughter, Raheela, residents of Naga Keran, slipped and fell into a deep gorge at Mundain Naga Keran around 4 pm.

They said a police party and locals rushed to the spot and fished the bodies from gorge.

Ex Sarpanch Halqa Keran, Raja Tasleem, told Asian News Hub that Rashida Begum died on the spot, while her granddaughter was taken to SDH Kralpora for treatment. Unfortunately, she was also declared brought dead at the hospital.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.
